Direction to Bee School Application for Bee School Syllabus for class Meet the Speakers |
Honeybees are well-known for their economic value as pollinators of fruits, vegetables and other agricultural crops. As well as being important pollinators, honeybees collect pollen, produce royal jelly and propolis ~ all of which are used as dietary supplements. Bees also produce beeswax that can be used for everything from candles to cosmetics. This school is appropriate for the beginner and experienced beekeeper, the individual or family. It is important to have the correct information needed to start your new hobby. You need to know the basics to help you get started. Presented by Knox-Lincoln County Beekeepers (KLCB), experienced beekeepers conduct classes on basic, beginning beekeeping management topics. The 7 weekly classes are held on consecutive Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Knox Lincoln County Extension Office in Waldoboro. The curriculum includes a variety of interesting lectures, hands-on experiences and outdoor workshops. Learn from the experiences of commercial and backyard beekeepers. Click on Application to pre-register. $10 materials fee [due at the first class] (payable to KLCB) covers the cost of the textbook and a pro-rated membership in KLCB.
